Situated in one of London’s most lively shopping districts, Isola is the elegant new offering from award-winning family-run Italian restaurant group, San Carlo. The 200 cover Italian brasserie offers an authentic all-day menu to both locals and tourists alike. Fettle took inspiration from the family heritage of San Carlo when approaching the design, referencing grand Sicilian homes complimented with a colour palette evocative of the native fruits of the island.

Approaching, diners have the choice to sit amongst bustling St Christopher’s Place with the large dual aspect wrap-around, richly planted and beautifully lit terrace. Inside, guests are greeted by the long curved bar in Rosa Pink marble top and rattan detailed undercounter, complimented by the yellow polished plaster walls. Bespoke green leather bar stools add additional opulence to the space. The shape of the bar is reflected in the high gloss painted ceiling and the rich peach Alicante and green Verde Imperiale polished marble flooring that runs throughout the restaurant.

Moving from the bar, the colour scheme switches to a vibrant pink with antiqued mirror and artwork pieces alongside an alabaster illuminated wine display before opening out into the main dining room. The space is flooded with natural light thanks to the new timber shopfront which in the warmer months can open back allowing the energy of passing shoppers and outdoor diners to flow into the space.

As in the bar, the timber panelled walls are painted in a high gloss yellow tone with softer polished plaster and antique mirror infills. Eclectic but carefully curated artwork accompanies the burnished brass picture lights and bespoke wall fittings with a loose linen shade. Banquettes and booths line the perimeter in dark green leather and striped, green fabric are paired with rattan bespoke dining chairs. Custom dining tables feature eclectic tabletop finishes including yellow Giallo Siena, green Calacatta Verde and pink Rosa Tea marbles, as well as stained oak.

The lower ground dining room retains the high gloss yellow timber, polished plaster and antique mirror. The polished marble floor is paired with an elegant fabric tented ceiling, creating a refined and elevated atmosphere. A bespoke mural by LA based artist Jessalyn Brooks sits behind the cocktail bar and combine with a central island of booth seating to create a strong focal point to the space.
